High on my list is growing SantaOnline.net. Ongoing activities throughout the year. Online concerts. More YouTube content for kids and parents. Kindness Monkeys. Online events for folks with autism. Etc.
To be clear, there are no more Mississauga Hootenanny Song Circles planned for the foreseeable future. Heartfelt THANKS to all who have contributed to the Song Circle over the years.

What is a Hootenanny?
A “Hootenanny” or Song Circle is a gathering of folks who love to sing together.
Instruments, while not required, may include guitars, banjos, ukuleles, harps, harmonicas, autoharps, fiddles, piano, hurdy gurdys and, of course, voices.
Singing goes around the group in a circle. When your turn comes, you may:
- choose to sing and/or play something,
- request a song from the group in general or from a specific person,
- or pass.
We all join in on choruses and anything else we recognize.
There’s no official body of songs, though some people like to use Rise Up Singing (AKA “The Blue Book”) or other songbooks. All genres of music are welcome including folk, blues, roots, jazz, country, gospel, reggae, pop, broadway, etc.
Some people accompany themselves on their instruments, some sing a capella, some just play a tune on our live piano. And some just listen. Everyone who loves singing is welcome.
